I began my career in Industry, where I remained, until
I took time out to bring up my 4 children. In 1983 I started a new
career, working for Warrington Health Authority, as clerical officer
and later P.A. and secretary to the Director of Nursing Services,
and five nursing officers within the Mental Handicap Unit.
The White paper Care in
the Community enforced another change of career because the
hospital where I worked was closed down. In April 1990 I was given
the opportunity to work as a Practice Manager in a single handed
practice. In January 1995 I felt I needed a new challenge and moved
to my current post . tEN years on, I am still learning, and enjoy
the variety and responsibilities expected of me.
Roles and Responsibilities:
As Practice Manager, I work full
time within the practice, and am responsible for the smooth running
and organisation of the day to day activity. There are also many
other aspects of the job which I manage on a regular basis, these
include :-
-
Staff training and Development
-
Accountancy and PAYE
-
Personnel/Health & Safety
-
Complaints Manager
-
Primary Health Care Team Co-ordinator
-
Clinical Governance Practice
Representative
-
Audit Club Assistant
My office door is always open to both staff and patients
alike and I welcome comments, which can be acted upon to improve
patient care.
I also enjoy encouraging both staff and patients to
work together to raise money for our two local hospices. The practice
has raised in excess of 3,000 pounds in the last 3 years for the
charities concerned. |
